Mindful Eating Program

How can Mindful Eating help me?

Eating is a natural, nourishing, pleasurable part of life used to meet our body's requirements. However, living in our food abundant, diet-crazed culture, where there often is a lot of stigma around body shape and size and fear around food, we have "lost touch" with our intuitive ability to enjoy food. Instead eating is often mindless, consuming and guilt inducing. Mindful eating is grounded in the ancient practice of mindfulness with profound modern applications and implications in solving our love- hate relationship with food.

Is Mindful Eating a diet?

No this program is not a weight loss diet. In fact, there is a substantial body of research to show that dieting is not sustainable and lead to a number of problems, including eating disorders, food and body preoccupation, weight gain, reduced self -esteem, weight stigmatisation and overall poorer health.

Diets can force us to disconnect from our body as we try to follow rules. This creates confusion, feelings of deprivation and despair as we try to stick the diet - we think we have

The Mindful Eating Program will guide you to break free from the diet mentality, and embrace your body as the expert to guiding you around when to eat, what to eat and how much to eat.

So, what is Mindful Eating?

Mindful eating is learning to integrate your mind and body. You begin to trust and honour your body cues and learn how to meet your emotional needs more effectively. It's an integration of instinct (or body wisdom) with emotion and rational thought. We use mindfulness to begin to eat with intention and attention:

  • Eating with the intention of caring for yourself
  • Eating with the attention necessary for noticing and enjoying your food and its effects on your body

As you can see, mindful eating is much more than “eating slowly, without distraction.” While that’s certainly an important part of it, at Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Programs and Training, we believe that mindful eating encompasses the entire process of eating:

  • Awareness of your physical and emotional cues
  • Recognition of your non-hunger triggers for eating
  • Learning to meet your other needs in more effective ways than eating
  • Choosing food for both enjoyment and nourishment
  • Eating for optimal satisfaction and satiety
  • Using the fuel you’ve consumed to live the vibrant life you crave

It is a step by step process that will guide you to a happier healthier relationship with food and your body.

The Mindful Eating Program will guide you to break free from the diet mentality, and embrace your body as the expert to guiding you around when to eat, what to eat and how much to eat.

Are you ready to free your self and heal your relationship with food?

If you have dieted for years and cannot even bare the thought of another expert telling you what to do....

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU.

The aim of the program is for you to become the expert in YOU. Feel in charge of your eating habits and in the process improve your overall health and well-being.

This is not another diet plan, exercise plan or a "we'll tell you how to live your life" plan. There is no restriction, deprivation or tyranny.

In fact, all the tools and strategies you learn in this program are there to make your life easier, not harder.

The skills become more natural and easy in time.

No more dieting. No more rules. No more shame, guilt or feeling confused about what to eat.

Eating can be quite complex....

We make thousands of decisions around food and eating each and every day. Our relationship with food starts from our childhood years, it is shaped by our family, life experiences, and so much more...everyone's experiences are individual and personal.

Week by week, we explore in depth the numerous decisions we make each day surrounding food and eating. The main tool we use to achieve this is called the Mindful Eating Cycle (as shown in the pic!).The cycle is used to help us explore without judgement  the hundreds of decisions we make around eating each day.

Every week we peel back another layer and get a step closer to a peaceful, enjoyable relationship with food and our body.

"I was so bad yesterday..."

When we label foods as good or bad, we give power to food. If we eat the "naughty" foods we are naughty, if we eat the "good" foods we are good.

We then get obsessed around what we eat. This is what DIET MENTALITY does to us. We create a love hate relationship with food that is cyclical and can take over our lives and leave us feeling defeated...

The Mindful Eating Program helps us end this battle. We become grounded in our own body cues, we learn to make decisions that serve us, we regain our power around food and eating.

No head games.

Oh....and no more weighing, measuring  or counting food, calories or your body!
